Why Meditation is a Game Changer

Why Meditation is a Game Changer

I’ll be 100% honest, I was incredibly skeptical about meditation for a long time. I mean, I’ve always considered myself spiritual, but sit silently and not think about an endless to-do list while waiting for some message? I don’t think so. As someone who has a hard time even relaxing for an afternoon, the idea of closing my eyes, letting up control, and allowing my mind to wander seemed quite honestly impossible.

After deciding to humor curiosity and read up on the subject, I decided to give it a go… I have been hooked ever since. And, while I have only been at it a short time, I’ve already seen a huge difference in my day-to-day.

When I first started meditating, my main goal was to relieve anxiety and the fears and worries that I was carrying with me. In these first meditations, I kept seeing bunnies. Yep, like bunny rabbits hopping around. How random, right? Since meditating allows you to receive different symbols and signs, I naturally Googled what the spiritual meaning of the bunny is.

Turns out bunnies represent fertility, new life and beginnings, the desire to embrace a creative outlet, and spontaneity. As someone with kiddos on the brain this immediately resonated on that front. Second, feeling at a crossroads of wanting to write more, inspire others, and live a more creative-fueled life, I was comforted by this symbol and took it as a kick in the pants to just do it!

As if seeing this symbolic animal during meditation wasn’t enough to make me want to continue giving it a shot, bunnies have continued to show up for me. During a hike with my husband Nick two bunnies crossed the trail right in front of us. While writing this post someone on the TV in the background started screaming “bunnies”. When I was having a moment of doubt the other day a white bunny hopped across the screen in a show that I was watching.

I have always been a big believer in signs, but it has been on a whole new level since I started meditating. Not only do I have these signs as a notion of direction, but they have allowed me to literally let go of anxiety and unnecessary worry. I am overwhelmed by the comfort that I feel knowing that I am where I need to be, being guided by something much bigger, and that everything really does work out.

Of course feelings of worry and anxiety still creep in, but taking the opportunity to see them through a new lens is freeing and I am definitelyyyy on any train that can do that. Choo-choo!
